Stuck at the bios screen windows XP PRO....HELP!!!??? please
HELLO!
I was rendering a DVD that I was making, and leaving the computer to run overnight, when I have accidently switched the power off at the wall, and cursing, I switched the computer back on to re-set for the overnight render....but...... The screen always stays stuck at the first screen (that usually flashes up for a second), before moving onto loading up windows XP pro. It is a black screen with: F2 = Setup F12 = Boot Menu BIOS Revision 1.0.3 That is what I see. Obviously hitting F2 or F12 does nothing. WHat can I do. I had a .ISO Xp pro boot CD, that I downloaded online and burnt to a CD, but when I put it in the drive of the stuck computer. it did nothing. I need to get back to this work, it would take forever to set this up on another computer. Any ideas.....please???? thank you Vern |

If you're using a USB mouse/keyboard try switching to a PS2 version. That might help get into the BIOS. Then, just go in and hit the probably F10 to save and see if it boots up.

Or you may need to try resetting the bios using the jumper pins - would depend on your mobo model - check the mobo manual.
moderator note: Your post seems to point towards using an illegal version of XP. This is against the rules of the forum - http://www.pcmech.com/forum/rules.php. Normally, we would shut this thread down immediately, but since your issue seems less of an OS and more of a BIOS/motherboard issue - it remains open. |

Could this have to do with the modification of your *.ini files? For example a change of the system.ini's drive boots could config it to only load up to a particular point and then stop.
