UK Dell 1525 Ubuntu upgrade to XP?

My girlfriends son has some money for a laptop for school after christmas and what-not, I have been looking at the dell 1525 ubuntu for abround £300,

Does any one know if i can easily upgrade this system to windows Xp as I have a legit key lying around?

I have found the Xp drivers needed for 1525 but i'm wondering if dell can stop me from upgrading to XP?

I may even get a faster seagate (cheaper then dell)hardrive as well and start completely from fresh......

anyone done this?

Dell can't stop you, but it may void your warranty. Having a separate hard drive may be the best way, but by the time you do this, wouldn't it be just as economical to order it with XP already on it?

They don't give you a lot of choice now glc in the UK, most home laptops come pre-installed with vista. I have to buy a business system to get XP from Dell.
If i go for vista and a faster drive it pumps the price almost £100 more and he's on a Xbox AND a lappy type budget

As always, much appreciated.
