Windows XP SP2 Slipstream Problem
(sorry if this is the wrong forum)
Hi. I'm having issues with slipstreaming my windows xp disc. But first off: Yes, I own a 100% legit windows xp professional disc. The only problem is it's sp1 and I want to install sp2 right off the bat. So I followed the instructions here: http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase...slipstream.asp and I burnt a ISO to test on Microsoft VPC. It worked flawlessly. But now, when I burn it to a disc, and try to install it, it doesn't reconize it as a system disc (unbootable), and I've tried two machines. I've wasted two discs so far, and I'm not sure what the problem is... the only thing I *think* might be a problem is the label might not be 100% the same as the orginal disc, but otherwise, I'm clueless. I do have the boot sectors set to 4, and all that other stuff, so I dunno what to do. Any help would be appricated. thx |

Are you using Nero or ISO Buster to burn your disc. I have found that using a burning device called CD Burner XP works flawlessly for burning ISO's. Just my opinion and experience. You can download it from here http://www.cdburnerxp.se/. I would also follow these instructions http://www.theeldergeek.com/slipstreamed_xpsp2_cd.htm which seems to be much easier than the one you're using, again just my experience.
Good Luck!!!

I'm using Nero burning rom, though it's a trial. Maybe that might cause a problem? Don't really think so though...
I double checked my steps with that site and a few others, cant find a obvious problem yet... |

Somebody else maybe able to confirm this, but I thought the Nero trial versions wouldn't burn an ISO. I have Nero 8 and I am sure during the installation it told me it couldn't burn ISO's during the trial period, if I remember correctly it installs as a trial version until you input the registration key.

No, it's completely unlimited (Nero 9) until the trial period is over.
BTW, is it worth it to buy Nero? Or are there better, free, alternatives? |

Personally I think there are just as good (and not intrusively phoning home) free app's out there.
I only use Nero because it is required by another application I use. |

Forget the burning iso's and all the other work. Do it fast and easy with Autostreamer.
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/S...streamer.shtml I used it to create my XP SP3 disks and it works slick. |
