Windows XP not working

Couldn't really think of a better title, sorry about that : (.

Anyways, I have Windows XP Pro SP3 and I was going to merge one of my partitions with Paragon hardrive Pro 2009. It failed because of something with the partition. I wanted to know why and I tested it and tried to run a disk check or something like that( I don't remember what it was called because I uninstalled it but I remember the option was extreme or normal and I chose normal )

I also used DiskKeeper Pro 09 to defrag some files so It might be that too.

And finally I installed some theme but it said 50 themes so I was like what the hell. Maybe it's a virus?

After I booted, everything worked fine and after 30 seconds the screen turns black, now it does that all the time. I don't know what do now. I wish I could tell you more information but I don't remember D:

Tried system restore, nothing

Can anybody help? Or should I just reinstall XP ( also I've got Windows Vista ultimate on my other partition but it works fine )

What are you running for an antivirus/malware program? Download this program, its free, boot to safe mode and run a full system scan: www.malwarebytes.org.

Only one, Trojan Remover but it didn't really do anything. I barely went on internet on my desktop so I didn't have any use for a AV program. I'll try that program and will post if it detected anything. Thanks.

edit: How do I install it when I barely have time to log on and on safemode it won't let me install anything :/?

Remove the drive and connect it to another computer with a USB adapter to scan it.

If a partition operation failed, you may be looking at a zero fill and rebuild - just so you know.

glc, Could you possibly provide a bit more detail of what a USB adapter has to do with a hard drive? ( Unless you mean SATA to USB or something ) I'm a bit confused, I usually like things with a little more information.

Also, I'm not clear as to what you mean "zero fill and rebuild" Sorry if I'm not used to these terms.

The usb adapter will let you attach that hard drive to another computer through USB: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=2020&cpc=SCH

zero fill and rebuild means that you would use a program that would wipe the drive clean and format it by writing all zeros to it. That would make it like a brand new drive, and you would then have to reinstall windows.

Oh that's what he meant. Can't I just go on my Vista partition and scan from there? Or will that not work because I already tried that and it did not detect anything.

I'll probably just reinstall windows I guess D: since I barely have any money.
