Help with sever 2003 email config.

Hi guys,

I have having the problem of not all emails coming through the mail server. Not sure whats causing it but when i did a dns report, the error that came up was

Mailserver Greeting Failure "The server should have an A record which points to the mailserver for the hostname which is presented in the greeting"

Im not sure if the two are directly related...

Any ideas?
Thanks

If you're using a mail filter that sits in front of the mail server and does not live on the mail server, no, you wil not see a greeting because the spam filter doesn't send greetings. This is common.

Check the logs on the spam filter to see if mail reaches the spam filter and what happens to it (ie, does it get dumped in quarantine, or does it attempt to forward on to the mail server?)

Are you getting any bounces messages for the email that isn't being delivered?

Are you having problems both sending and recieving mail, or are there problems going both ways?
