Install XP SP3 on a Dell T300?
It supposed to support server 2003, but I installed XP on it and it boots. However I can't find any NIC or video drivers for it. Dell's site only has dx tools. Anyone know if this SP can be used or am I wasting my time? Thanks

Try the Server 2003 drivers. They "should" work with XP.

I'll give it a try. Can I salvage the processor, Intel Core 2 Duo E6405, and use it in any supporting mobo?

This could get interesting...........................
The E6405 is listed as a Xeon. The Asus CPU Compatibility charts do not list this processor at all. All Google hits on this processor refer to either Dell or HP servers. Therefore, I don't think it's very likely you will find a compatible desktop board. Just thought of something - XP 64 bit uses Server 2003 drivers. It may be easier to get that working on the T300. |

Do 64-bit drivers work on a 32-bit system?I wouldn't mind using the T300, but it needs a little more knowledge than I have to run server 2003(which I do have also). I've only resorted to XP SP3 since I've done multiple re-installs and know all it's quirks by now. This T300 is mostly a backup to my main server which I'm going to use Karen's replicator for. I intend to run these 24/7.

If you have Server 2003, just install it. As a workstation, it works just like XP, and you do not have to use it in the domain mode, just keep it in workgroup mode.

Is there a way to enable all internet websites in server 2003? It works fine in a workgroup as you stated, but it seems to hassle to enable every site when browsing.
Another problem I had was when XP was installed. I couldn't find the driver for 2003 that you said may work. Is there a name or extension I can look for that you may know? |

I had no problem finding all the drivers you need on Dell's site.

You're right, I don't know why I kept thinking I had to get the drivers from the CD. How about a workaround so browsing websites is easier without adding each site to the trusted list? Thanks

It sounds like your default security settings for the Internet Zone are way too tight.
Not trying to be a smartaleck, but you could use Firefox. |

I'll try firefox. This is sort of a public computer for my staff of 3 when it's not a backup server and I don't think they know anything other than IE but I'll check the settings in it. I'll let you know if I need more help. Thanks

Web browsers are web browsers. They all work pretty much the same way.
