ctrl alt delete
Im new to computers and just built my own pretty descent rig. the hardware was easy, but software can be a little tricky. my computer does weird things, magically it descided when i start up the computer now i have to log on... there is a little picture and my name that i need to select. how can i turn that off? also and more annoying is when i push ctrl alt delete it used to bring up task manager, now it brings up a box that has multilple options like task manager, change user, shutdown, etc.. how can i change that back, i just want it to open task manager.

To skip the user login:
Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change the way users log on or off -> clear the box that says Use The Welcome Screen For Task Manager: Instead of Ctrl-Alt-Del try using Ctrl-Shift-Esc or right click on the taskbar at the bottom and choose it from the menu

Don't think so. The real solution is to Run>control userpasswords2 and uncheck the box "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Click Apply and OK

Gets more complicated.
If you dont use the Welcome screen (as per Spools post) then C-A-D will not bring up the task manager. However to solve it .. use the welcome screen then enable autologin using Panama Red's solution. |
