Cleaning and speeding up XP

I have numerous ways for cleaning up XP but I need to find a good standard process. The normal issues... slow and slower is usually the case. I usually do the following...

"add / remove" obvious non used programs
un-install resource hungry antivirus
ccleaner
malwarebytes
avg
spy doctor
disk cleanup
defrag

is there any other things or shortcuts that would be of benefit?
a better order?

If you use ccleaner, running disk cleanup is a total waste of time. Also, disk cleanup will compress seldom used files, which is NOT a good idea in my opinion. If ever used, a compressed file will exhibit a delay when opening.

Thanks for the tip, didn't know that... Just started to use ccleaner from the suggestions here. Any good reference pages on using

"startup programs from msconfig

and disable unneeded services from services.msc"
