Salutation friendly geeks;
How often can you activate an OEM version/copy of Win XP Home? The reason I ask is; that I have 2 different PCs behind a cable router, that are activated with the same CoA, running and also automatically updating with Microsoft!?! I have my own system, and also a newer system that I just finished building for my nephew and I installed my own copy of Win XP OEM and activated it, so that I could download updates and SP3. Both PC have now been running for 2 weeks with continuously receiving automatic updates from Microsoft. I didn't know that it could be possible. |

The reason the second machine activated is you waited more than 120 days after the previous activation. Technically, you are illegal. You may have a problem next time you try to do a manual Windows Update or try to download anything from M$ that requires WGA, it may fail.

What glc said about using the same key on more than one system is true, I also have a OEM XP PRO that I have used on different systems and have installed and activated it over 15 times. Once you hit about ten you have to do a phone in activation and get five stings of numbers to enter. If you ask they will reset your key to ten installs again.
