When I tried to install a tax program program yesterday, it informed me that my version of Windows Installer (a 3.0 version) was out of date, and that I needed a newer version in order to properly install the tax program.
So, I downloaded Windows Installer v.3.1 from a Microsoft web site, but when I went to install THAT, I got an error message reading "Access Denied," and the Installer wouldn't install! I did go to this Microsoft URL link on Resolving Common MS Installer Problems: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555175 I tried Methods 1, 4, & 5, to no avail. Couldn't try Method 2, as my IE is currently buggered. Some of the other Methods looked pretty risky.... Last edited by MarkTwain; 03-19-2009 at 04:55 PM. Reason: reformatting text |

What is wrong with IE?
I'd try to fix that and then do Windows Updates..

It won't run when I double-click on its desktop icon. It just creates a second desktop icon! Very strange!
I'll get the next version of IE after I'm through preparing for the XP Pro SP III download--yet another major matter.... |
