regarding option "compress drive to save disk space"
Hi all,
Regarding the compress drive to save disk space option located in c drive properties, will doing that speed up my system or it will just give me more space to save files. thanx |

It will give you only more space. As far as Computer performance speed it does not matter.

NOT recommended, it can slow the system down.

Agreed, the operating system will have to de-compress the files when it requires them.
The compress files option is a remnant of the old days of computing when hard-drives where measured in the tens and hundreds of MB, (Negs, fondly remembers his 486 with 400Mb hdd). In the modern age of terabyte drives it hardly worth it. |
