Windows keeps doing Chkdsk

As the title says, XP keeps going through ChkDsk each time i start itp. And it's the Chkdsk that has a 5 step process, i left to go do something, and came back, it ended up taking about 2 hours to finish. So what can i do to fix this?

How are you shutting Windows down? Improper shutdown will set the "dirty bit" each and every time and force a chkdsk on startup.

Next time, after it's done and in Windows, open a command prompt and type:

chkntfs x:

(x being the drive letter - do this for all drive letters one at a time) and see if any of your volumes is reporting dirty. If so, type:

chkntfs /d

Reboot, it will run chkdsk again, when in Windows, repeat and see if a volume is still dirty. If the same volume is still dirty, run manufacturer's hard drive diagnostics. If they fail, you know why, replace the hard drive. If diags are clean, the drive will have to be reformatted, you have unrecoverable file corruption.

Well, to give you some info on my computer, i have a MacBook Pro with a Bootcamp partition running XP. To boot into XP, i have to hold down the Alt button to be able to select the XP partition over Mac. Lately, i have been having a lot of Chkdsks running, not everytime, but pretty frequently. I use this set of utilities called Tuneup 2009, it said that it had detected some problems with my drive, so it recommended tuneup disk doctor on my next restart, so i did that, and it has been cycling the same thing over and over again. And i did try to get into Safe mode, but the computer stopped loading at a file called MDFSYSNT.sys.

You know what, i was actually able to figure it out. I selected last known good config, and it actually loaded. Then i turned chkdsk off, and it runs fine now, so i don't know what happened there, but it's fine now. So thanks for your help!
