HP Pavilion Help

Hello everyone,

I have a HP Pavilion ZV5000 lap top computer that when you turn it on you get a black screen that wants you to boot into safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt or load the last known good configuration. I have tried all of these options and they do not work. When I tried, the screen would show it booting through different files, then show the windows XP screen and then go to the same black screen again. There has been no new hardware or programs installed on it before this happend. The last thing I did before this started was look at the craft cheese website. The next day I got the above problem. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

I would do a nondestructive system recovery.

I used the link to bring up the pc recovery console on the computer, but it redirected me to the options to start in safe mode again. I tried tapped all the function keys, delete, alt and shift keys and nothing opened this console. Anything else I could try?

Thank you.

You used the "recovering during startup" instructions? If so, there's a good chance your hard drive is failing. You would need to determine the brand of hard drive in the computer, go to the manufacturer's website and download their diagnostic software. This will not FIX it, but it would confirm my suspicion if diagnostics fail.
