trouble installing XP

I am having an issue installing windows xp. I purchased a new HD, WD sata 1TB.
I connected everything, put the window xp pro disc in the CD drive and it starts up.
however once it gets to the point of "starting windows" I get the following error:

stop: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

any idea what may be causing this? I took out my sound card and usb card. unplugged all usb deviced except for keyboard and mouse. left my video card in the system, since that is my only way of getting video. any help would be greatly appreciated!

What service pack level is your XP CD? You cannot use one with no service packs with a drive larger than 128gb.
