XP system 32 missing
hi i just recently bought some hardware called wintv i put the PCI chip in my pc turned it on started win xp(by the way i dual boot xp 32 bit and vista 64) and the "new hardware" window popped up, but i forgot to hook up my coaxle(cable tv cord) so i gave it a quick restart mannually, now when i try to boot xp 32bit it says im missing system 32 file, so i figured id just repair it cuz i dont want to loose all the games/software/files i have installed and have on the xp HD..... but when i try to repair it gives me the option of Repairing Windows or WINDOWS i dont know which one to choose? or is there another way i can put the system 32 files back in the right place by booting to vista and placing them on the xp HD? i really dont want to start my xp 32 bit HD over from square 1 hoep some1 can help
i tried to repair WINDOWS which i found was xp, and it said it could not but that i should remove new hardware if the problem continued so i removed the wintv pci card and booted xp and this is exactly what it says windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt \windows\system32\config\system using vista to get to the other harddrive i found the file and the last date it was modified was today is there anyway to load windows from a previos state so that it will bring it back to the old way? or can i manually repair this file? If you are not able to copy system32 file, now finally you have to repair Windows.
Boot you computer with XP Disk and hit "R" when setup ask to repair windows. See at screen shot here. Do not select Vista Windows directory while repairing the XP. |
