Script error Win 95
I was asked for help on Win 95 pc. Elderly Gentleman gets script error on page. He uses AOL for online access..when he clicks on link sometimes it brings him back to AOL main page instead of desired link. Also, his pc is running quite slow. I did clean up temp internet files and history, but when I tried to do a defrag it wouldn't run.. It has been SOOOO long since I have used Win 95 I can't remember how to get around.. any ideas?? thanks Debbie

Windows 95 does not support newer browsers. There are more and more sites out there now that do not work in old browsers. AOL just makes that worse.
About all you can do is look in Internet Options, disable script debugging and uncheck the box for notifying you about script errors. You need to delete the Windows temp files too. Then run scandisk - THEN defrag in safe mode. You would be doing this gent a service by doing 2 things - help him get a new computer with XP, and finding him a real ISP. However, if he's like most seniors, he will be real resistant to change and it may be best if you backed away from the situation. |

Well said glc, thats great advice but even if he follows all those steps the windows 95 machine will crash as soon as he hits a page with flash on it. I have gone through this with some of the farmers out here who desperately want to hold on to their windows 95 computers, some even windows 3.1
