Computer won't recognize keyboard input
Ok, so a few nights ago I got a little drunk at my house. I don't remember everything detail for detail what happened, but I'll try to list it as best as I can:
1) I decided the party I was throwing was lacking good music, so I stumbled into my bedroom and started my computer. Everything was fine. 2) I realized my computer was in my room, and the party was in the living room, so this was quite the useless endeavor. I shut my computer down. 3) A couple hours and a few drinks later I forgot about my first adventure and tried it again. I repeated step 1 and 2. 4) I came back to my room, I'm not positive why but I think it was to show one of my buddies the Kratom page on Erowid. My computer all of a sudden would not recognize my keyboard. The next morning I tried troubleshooting the problem. I tried all 4 USB slots, failure. I tried using my PS/2 adapter, and that failed. I ran over to my buddies, hung out for a few minutes, then borrowed his keyboard, which I know for a fact works. Didn't work with the USB or the PS/2 adapter. None of the LED's on either of the keyboards light up when the computer starts up. However, my USB webcam's LED light does turn on. I can't think of any solution. I know my computer had a virus on it at one point, however I have ran several top of the line licensed anti-virus programs on it, and as far as I can tell, it was clean at the time of the problem. However I also know there's really no way to be certain unless you reformat, which I just so happen to have lost my WinXP disk and can't find any good torrents for a cracked version. I appreciate any ideas/suggestions

Will a PS/2 specific keyboard yield any different results than a USB keyboard with a PS/2 adapter?

Some usb keyboards just don't work right with a ps/2 adapter.
It doesn't hurt to try one that doesn't need an adapter. Does the keyboard not work in just windows, or can you not even enter bios? |

Yes it does BIOS, but it gets to a screen that says something like "No keyboard detected, press F1 to continue" which I find rather ironic. So windows doesn't load, but I believe it has the ability to.
I'll try to get ahold of a PS/2 keyboard tomorrow. I just got a vicodin scrip for my strep throat (LOL) so I don't think I should be on the road right now. |

Couldn't find any PS/2 keyboards at neither Best Buy nor Walmart. G_G

Try to borrow one or try a secondhand store.
