So I'm trying to wipe/reinstall an old computer for a family member. On a restart it says like f1 for setup f10 for system recovery. I can enter the bios settings just fine, boot menu also, but when i hit f10, nothing at all. The computer didn't come with recovery discs, just the recovery partition. Is there another way to enter system recovery because I've restarted a million times and F10 isn't working.

Did someone wipe the recovery partition by any chance?

Computer is a Compaq Presario SR2020NX. The recovery partition is in tact, I can view it in my computer.

Read completely and thoroughly for ALL your options. You need to smack your relative for not making the recovery disks! There is a utility in Windows that does exactly that, and as I remember, the first time you start a new HP/Compaq system you get a popup that asks you if you want to do it.
