Problem opening Powerpoint show from email.

XP Home
Outlook Express

My Mom did not have a program to view Powerpoint presentations etc, so I just installed 2007 Powerpoint viewer from M$.

Now when I click on the .pps file in an email, I get a "This file does not have a program associated with it. Create an association in the folder options control panel". I went into the folder options and .pps was already associated with the viewer program.

I saved the .pps onto her desktop and double-clicked that file and Powerpoint viewer fired right up.

What do I need to do to get a .pps file to open right from an email?

I had this same problem on a customers computer.

I told them the same thing you did. Just save to computer and view that way.

It's not ideal, but does work.

Thanks Shadow.

I did some sleuthing and found the fix .

I followed the instructions laid out in the "Manual Fix" located here: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/ppsopen.htm . It works like a charm! Now Mom can open .pps files directly from Outlook Express.
