Hey guys got a problem thats been bugging me for awhile.
Every time I turn my laptop on it runs fine until right after the windows xp loading bar logo shows. Than it just stays black and an error box pops up saying : _________________________________________________________________ [X] lsass.exe application error. _________________________________________________________________ The application failed to initialize properly [0xc0000006]. Click OK to terminate. [ OK ] _________________________________________________________________ I've took out the HDD and put it on my tower and scanned it for virus and it did however had a bunch on it. once it got cleared out I put it back on and still no help. Also I try to go to safe mode but yet no luck while it still does the same situation with the error box. What can be wrong with it? I have a factory xp cd but since its a brand name laptop it wont let me repair because it has its on special windows xp and needs it manufacture cd which I don't have any more. Every time I load up the cd it says there is no hdd to install the xp and restarts the laptop. Like I said I only have the actual copy and not the manufacture cd However I plan to use the windows key from the laptop. I searched and searched but apparently no luck

Well it would be helpful if you actually told us the laptop model, and the specs.
Some clues as to what you were doing before this happened would also help. Have you search microsoft site about that stop code yet?

lol true, my bad
I can't even recover it! ok windows xp home edition setup welcome .to set up windows xp now, press ENTER .to repair a windows xp installation using recovery console, press R .to quit press f3 so I press R setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer= supplied diagnostic or setup programs. setup cannot continued press f3 HELP lol also I want to mention i am able to go to the f1 manufacture recovery mode but when I get in there it says insert disk 1. I look at Microsoft but it says to repair it. But I don't have the manufacture cd! |

Order a new recovery CD - your key isn't going to work with a generic CD anyway.

Because that key is only valid for the exact same version of XP that came on the computer - OEM version of XP Home, XP Pro, XP Media Center, or XP Tablet. If you have lost the recovery CD's, and you did not make a backup set using the provided utility, you are out of luck. In order to use a different XP CD, you have to use the key that it came with.
Contact Gateway for a replacement recovery set. The reason your CD can't find the hard drive is you have a SATA controller that requires a driver that doesn't come with a standard XP load. In order to use a standard load, you need a floppy drive and the driver on a floppy. Good luck finding the driver. |

It will only work if it's the EXACT SAME VERSION and has the drivers for YOUR MODEL.
The Compaq recovery CD will NOT work at ALL. I have told you what you need to do. You have a very proprietary laptop - being convertible with tablet capability - and you need the recovery kit FOR THAT MODEL. |

I went ahead and used that other gateway recovery cd and everything seems to work fine. However the education pack doesn't work because it doesn't pick up the 2005 windows tablet edition. I believe its because of using the other disk correct? also I notice now that everytime I boot up the computer before it logs me into windows the system check comes up and usually takes 3-5 mins... why does this happen? |
