Problem with Power Users

Hi All. New user here. Glad to be on board.

I'm having troubles adding Domain Users to the power users group on local machines. Some machines it works and for some it doesn't. This what I do: Right click "My Computer" --> Manage --> Local users and groups --> Groups, select power users --> add --> Look In: server, then I select "Domain Users". Every time I do this I get an error message, “Processing the object domain users failed with the following error: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.” When I hit close, sometimes the domain users sticks and sometimes it doesn’t. I do this with every new computer. It's the first thing that I do after installing 2k. I don’t understand why it works with some computers and not others. I’m trying to look at this as if it doesn’t work at all but I’m still drawing a blank.

Any Ideas>

You might take a closer look at the domains that your power users are in. Remember trust relationships rule=Permit the trust, then trust.

Thanks for the reply christo.

I will look a little closer as you suggested. My only issue is that everyone is pretty much created equally. eg. if user 1 worked fine why is it that user 2 (wich is a copy of user 1) doesn't work? I will explore this further. I forgot to mention that users also log into our novell server. Some users use a novell client for 2k and some use the 2k client for novell. Could this cause a problem?

Thanks again for your help.

Quite possibly. NT and Novell generally play nice together, provided that they are configured properly. Make sure that you have the latest Client 32, and that DNS is setup properly. IPX/SPX must be loaded. Hope this helps.
