DNS Clarification
I'm setting up a new windows 2000 server with DNS, DHCP and WINS for down level clients. I'm configuring DNS prior to dcpromo to make sure it functions properly. My question revolves around forwarders and clients using 98.
Currently DNS information on the desktops identifies our ISP as the DNS server. If i setup DNS on the 2k DC should i set up the ISP DNS server as a forwarder or would the forwarder have to be an internal DNS server exposed to the internet? Still getting DNS down. Thanks |

let the win2000 server forward to the isp's dns server.
have dhcp assign the internal dns server to the clients. for win98 clients, it really doesnt matter whose dns server they look at, but if some point down the road you want to add win2k clients, you'll want to take advantage of the dynamic dns features of your win2k server, so your win2k clients will need to point to your internal dns.
