Creating Windows XP SP3 Home Lite for an HP Mini

I'm going to use NLite to create a Windows installation disc for my HP Mini 1010 NR stripped of everything that seems nonessential. I only have an 8 GB SSD for hard drive. I'm running some apps off an SD card from Portable Apps and a few full version from the SDD.

But I want to make my Windows installation as lean as possible. I don't do anything complicated. This machine is a walkaround. For starters I want to take out,

Internet Explorer
Movie Maker
Outlook Express
Windows Tour
MSN Explorer
MSN Messenger
Language Packs (Keyboard and Lanuage)

Do any of the listed have any hidden ill effects? Anything else to get rid of?

You will want to leave IE. It's needed for updates.

I've thought of that. I just do updates through Windiz or the little yellow shield in the notification area. But thanks for your input.

I believe it still needs IE to do those updates.

Keep IE6, it doesn't take up much space. You can strip WMP out.

OK. Are there any drivers I can strip out? I'm going to strip out the games, joystick, Wingman, etc. This is not a game machine.

I left the usual suspect in: IE, WMP, and Outlook Express. It appears that there are some things not associated with these items that I might want. But getting rid of a lot of drivers that I don't need, language support, and a few other things made everything just fine. With very few programs, and mostly using portable apps, I have a 3.8 GB installation on my 8 GB SSD.
