Reinstalling XP Home question

I have a Toshiba laptop which I lost the recovery discs. If I have an XP Home disc, will I just be able to install with that and use the Product Key listed on the laptop?

Thanks.

The only way it will work is if it's the exact same version of XP that the COA is for, and it's an OEM CD, not a retail or upgrade CD.

What if you have a really old XP HOME OEM install but now only have an XP SP2 HOME OEM disc?

Also, I don'tunderstand how this would work. If you make a mistake entering the 25 character product key for that disc - it does not allow you to progress any further. So how is it possible to enter a product key which is different to the disc key???????

So any OEM CD will not work?

I've tried to search for the Toshiba A65 recovery DVD but have not found it directly from Toshiba.

ConLog, that should work fine, the service pack level doesn't matter. The product key is NOT on the CD, it uses algorithms to determine if you are using a valid key of the correct type.

Bob, if the COA is for XP Home, any XP Home OEM CD that is *NOT* a manufacturer-specific recovery disk "should" work.
