Hi, I'm running Win98 (yes I'm a dinosaur) and looking for NDISHLP.SYS driver. After half an hour wasted looking for a free copy of this driver and finding nothing but pay sites
(they say free but they aren't). I'm also missing a few other drivers but I don't know which ones. Thanks, - Tom

Admin note - this is the second thread of yours that I've had to move in the past month - your questions on both involve Windows 98, and we have a specific forum for that.
Please tell us exactly why you need this driver. What are you trying to do, and what are the error messages, if any? System specs also needed. |

I don't know why I need this driver. I thought everyone did. The error message comes at startup - unable to load or find driver. I have no idea what system specs you want. Sorry about being in the wrong forum. I scrolled through them all and that one seemed the closest thing. Thanks - Tom

Open device manager and list all flagged devices, please.
Specs - tell us about your computer? |

I give up. There are no flagged devices. All I know is the computer says it's missing NDISHLP.SYS which is apparently needed for something and is offered in a hundred places so if no one knows what it is or where to get it I'll keep looking for a free one. I'm also missing other drivers like the one that controls screen resolution, and would like to steal back the driver that WMP5 stole from my WMP2 but those are other problems. Thanks anyway.

Have the drivers for all your hardware ready and do this:
Fast way to remove all from device manager/ENUM key (Win9x/ME ONLY) You will also need your Win98 CD. You may have to do this: Windows 95/98/Me "Over-the-top" Reinstall The particular driver you need is usually installed when you install your modem or Ethernet adapter. Looking for a free one is not going to help you. If you can't provide me your system specs, I'm afraid I can't help you any better than that. |

As a pure guess it is likely that whatever drivers you need would be loaded from a CD marked motherboard drivers that came with your computer.
Without that support you would need to download the drivers onto some media that you system could read. To help you figure out what you have you could download, install, and use Belarc Advisor. It will tell you what motherboard you have in your computer. How you get it into your machine can be an issue. If the particular driver that is missing in for a network card and not for the motherboard you will need drivers for that specific card. |
