USB Port error- WMP

Every time I connect a USB device I get a "Windows Media Player needs to close" pop-up error.

It seems to happen only while using my MSN ISP.

The pop-up appears endlessly after closing.

It happens even though the player is not in use.

This happens when plugging in my MP3 Player and today when installing and using Magic Jack.

Thanks.

This site has handy info for disabling auto run/play for usb devices. My guess is that WMP tries to snyc with your usb devices when inserted and causes a fault for some reason before it has a chance to start up (MSN ISP sounds like a place to start, see if there is anything that "optimizes" WMP with the ISP).

More likely you can go into WMP and disable auto sync under the sync tab. But if that doesn't work you can try turning off auto run/play.

Last but not least, remove WMP. A quick search will give you details on removing it (don't forget to disable Win Update from DLing it). Or see if any updates are available, just make sure to back up licenses or convert to mp3 (or others) and get another player.
