All USB ports dead

I am trying this new software called Driver Checker, i used it on both of my laptops, and it has actually fixed some problems i had with them. Now i tried it on my desktop, and it detected that only the USB ports needed to be updated. So i let it do it's thing, used the computer, then restarted. Well, when it booted back up, my mouse and keyboard weren't working. I tried using my keyboard and mouse from my laptop, tested it on all the ports (6 total) and still nothing. This is really bad because that's my family's computer, and i can't get past the logon screen without a mouse, so are the drivers to blame for this problem, or are the ports just going? The computer is a Dell E310 from 2005.

Sounds like the drivers are messed up.

Try booting into safe mode, and tehn doing a system restore to before you used that program.

It depends on if it's really all the ports, or the drivers.

Easiest way to tell would be to see if you can press the button to access bios. If so, then it's the drivers and you should still be able to get to safe mode.

And I don't think it's possible to connect it to a different computer and get the drivers back. I may be wrong though.

Ok i went and tried safe mode, the keyboard works in the Bios, but when it boots up, it shuts off, same with safe mode, i couldn't get past the diagnostics list when it shows drivers.mys or whatever it is. I dod have Hiren's BootCD 9.9, i'm going to try to revert the drivers off of that, but i'm not sure it's going to work.

I just tried the system restore in a backup of XP i had through Tuneup Utilities, and it failed. But now the computer boots fine and the USB ports work. I don't understand computers sometimes.
