Memory Module prob
Dear Sirs,
I recently put together a system that consists of: Motherboard - Soyo K7VTA VIA KT133 chipset 200 FSB CPU - AMD Athlon Thunderbird 900 Mhz Memory - 1 Micron 256 MB, PC133 Hard Drive - IBM 40 GB ATA 66 7200 RPM OS - Windows 2000 SP 2 Video - Gigabyte Geoforce2 MX400 64MB This system has been running fine and without incident until I recently purchased an addition memory module. The memory module is identified on the chips as, Siemens HYB39S256400T-8(B). It was advertised as 512 MB Unregistered, PC133. I installed the memory into the next available DIMM socket (3 onboard). When I rebooted the computer several things happened. 1.) The PC booted through BIOS where the memory was tested and recognized (786,432 total memory) them memory and began to load Windows and then suddenly rebooted. This occured over and over. 2.) After booting into BIOS setup (Memory was recognized in BIOS) I exited and when the machine rebooted I received a STOP error. STOP error = The ACPI BIOS in this system is not fully compliant with the ACPI specification. 0x000000A5, 0X00000011, 0X00000007, 0XEB8680C0, 0X0100000C I then removed the new memory module and the machine booted normally. Can you please offer me some suggestions. Thank You, Kelly Rudnick Kellyrudnick@hotmail.com |

I would try to boot with the new stick by itself in bank one first and see what happens then if it is ok then add the 256 mg chip then see whats up.

Also if the system will boot with the new memory installed by itself, then put it in the number one memory slot where the old stick was installed and then move the old stick to slot number two

As mentioned boot the machine with just the 512mg in bank one, then if it works add the 256mg to bank two. The idea here is that a lot of boards reqire dirrerent ram set ups. But usually the higher mg chip goes in bank one.
Another thing to consider is that just because you have three available slots does not mean that you can put three 512 mg chips some allow one 512mg and two 128mg or maybe three 64mg . They are all different in this respect. So it is good to check your board specs in this regard. |

If I remember right the installed memory is non-ecc and unregistered. I searched the product number (48LC16MBA2-75B) and it doesn’t really indicate. I did try to boot the PC with the new (512MB) module and it failed to start. It didn’t boot just continued to beep a single beep. I reseated the memory a couple times with the same result. Then reinstalled the original and it was fine.
