Exclamation Ways to install XP, help!

Okay basically I have been given a laptop to fix.

Now the problem is that the hard disk is corrupt and there is nothing on it. A simple XP reinstall would sort it out but it turns out that the Cd drive doesnt work properly and the laptop cannot boot from USB drvices.

I have considered replacing the Cd rom but it could be too costly to justify doing it, I have also tried using VMWare to install XP onto the hdd on a different PC but this failed.

Anyone any ideas? Thanks!

If it has a working floppy drive:

You could yank the drive out...copy the contents of the Win XP cd to the drive and:

how can i get round having no licence no with the windows xp home edition?

I have had registry problems with hackers. Now I need to reinstall windows xp home edition but the cd has no licence number with the disc. I had the pc built by somebody and it is a legit cd but no licence number. How can I get round this?

For microsoft support this will cost me £46 which is a bit much.

I would be grateful for early replies as my email outlook express is corrupt.

If you can get the thing to boot into Windows, you can read out the key with the Magical Jellybean.

http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/

When you find the key, WRITE IT DOWN.

Those files probably came with a Windows update.
