do windows server 2003 group policies work for windows vista
I am running a domain with SBS 2k3 and roaming profiles, Up until this point I have had all XP stations. After playing around with 7 and Vista I started to pick up on all the differences between the networking systems.
I have already figured out the whole V2 profile and decided that it would probably be better that I just let users start from a new profile instead of making XP and Vista/7 profiles inter-operable. But here is my question.
I have a policy set in Group Policy that excludes the "My Documents" folder from loading in the profiles folder on the server. This works flawless for XP. However I have one machine running vista64 ultimate and 7 RC ultimate (for testing) and both machines do not seem to be managed by the policy. (well the vista machine is having problems but he has an nvidia driver so thats another topic). The Documents folder loads on those machines.
I had a friend tell me that a 2003 policy wouldnt be able to manage the vista/7 roaming profile machines due to the difference in profile format. Is this true? I plan to upgrade users to 7 as we buy new machines but dont want their documents folder clogging my server.
