Windows installer help,WIN XP

I'm having a problem with Windows installer,cant install anything ..Where can I find some easy to understand stuff to fix this problem? I'm not a computer gru...I'm om Win XP PRO sp3....

Have you cleaned your computer for virri, spyware/malware making sure your apps are up to date before scanning? If you've done all of this then take a look here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301. Hope this helps.

You can try some AV tools that don't require installation.
VCleaner is available here.

It could help other folks experiencing the same problem to give a description of what happened. You can't be the first and won't be the last. besides, confession is good for the soul, or so I'm told.

A wild guess - were you signed onto a user account with Limited privileges??

I thought it was fixed because I found the Windows installer service turned off so I turned it on but it still dosent seem to work right...I give up....

Give up - those are dirty words around here!

What you are trying to install? A normal program that runs under Windows? And what does it do when you start up an installation service? Still could be a virus problem but a little more info could help....

Some apps and programs will install,most wont..I guess you would call these normal Windows programs...I get an error message saying Windows installer cant be accessed..Somtimes it says class not reistered-2147221164...Games wont install...I have googled all of this and nothing helps...I'm handicapped and sick..I'm no computer gru....I'm starting to belive that something is screwed up in the system and I need to re-install Windows and I dont feel like doing that now....So 3 words....

A little Googling will find you the Windows Installer cleanup and reinstallation tools.

Cant do that bud,the cleanup tool wont install......Thats the problem...
