Can you install 11? What do you have now - 9?

If you already have 11, you cannot install 10. You have to uninstall 11 and revert all the way back to 9 before you can install 10.

How long has 11 been installed? Why are you trying to install 10?

Question Can't Install Media Player 10 Reply to Thread

About 2 Weeks.
After a crash.
9 & 10 were more easily controlled as You could populate Your library with just what You wanted as opposed to all the files.
I have IE6 & 10 on My other units and wish I could roll back this one to IE6.

Can you use system restore back to a date before the crash? If not, you may want to consider backing up your files and doing a wipe and fresh reinstall.

Question Can't Install Media Player 10 Reply to Thread

NO WAY GLC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I run an online business and every time I go through this it wreaks havoc and cost me Money.
This is not essential and I suspect there is a way to accomplish short of a System Restore.

Best reagards,
Jack

System Restore does NOT delete your files! The only thing you have to do is reinstall any software that was installed since the restore point.

If you run an online business and your computer is essential to your business, are you doing full system backups along with daily file backups? If not, you SHOULD be!

Can't Install Media Player 10 Reply to Thread

GLC,
I have six external hard drives, Including one in a remote locale in the event of a fire, So I'm well covered.
I just don't want to go through a complete reinstallation of all My programs if something goes wrong.
As I Said, When I go to control panel and chose "Remove Windows Components", I get:
Error Messase: "Setup was not able to open information file Mssligt.inf" .
Contact Your system administrator.
The specific error code is 0X2 at Line 0"

There must be a way to remove this program so I can get back to Version 10!

Thanks for all Your help!!!
Jack

I don't understand. If you don't know a way to uninstall WMP11 to go back to WMP10, what does "every time I go through this it wreaks havoc and cost me Money" mean? Have you done this before or not?

I would consider whether dealing with the WMP11 issues is a bigger deal than trying to go back to WMP10.

Let's get even more basic - why are you playing around with media players on a BUSINESS COMPUTER? The XP machines I set up for BUSINESSES get WMP9, and are NOT EVER updated.
