Transfering Outlook Express Information
I have a spare computer that I am giving to my next door neighbor as her unit is pretty old and outdated.
She uses Outlook Express and I would like to transfer the address book and Inbox messages from the old computer to the new one. What would be the best way to do this? |

If USB memory stick is an option you could mount one and export the address book to it. You could change the mail storage area on the old machine to a more convienent spot then copy the mailboxes to the USB memory.
On the new machine you would import the address book and the mailboxes. |

Outlook Express on the old compuetr only allows me to export the address book as a CSV file, OE on the new computer only allows me to import a wab file?
Suggestions? |

Tools - Maintenance - Store Folder - this is what you can move to another location. Otherwise, it's buried several layers deep in the docs and settings structure. You are looking for a folder full of .dbx files. Then you import those with the wizard - from a store folder.

Thanks again glc. The trick was finding the dbx files through the tools/maintenance/stored. I created a new folder on both the old and new computer, copied the folder on the old computer to a flash drive, then copied the Inbox to the stored folder on the new computer and selected "yes" when it asked me if I wanted to replace the old Inbox with the new one. Worked like a charm.
