Problems with Acronis clone

Hi all

I used Acronis True Image Home to clone the hard-drive of my old computer to a new drive that is going into a new computer. The clone works in the old machine, but not in the new. I know that with new hardware I almost always have to do a Windows repair, which I did with the drive in the new machine. But when Windows restarts after loading the files for the repair, it just stays on the loading screen and doesn't do anything.

I know the usual suspects for staying on the loading screen and not going anywhere are corrupt files, MBR and boot.ini errors, all of which are ruled out by the fact that the clone worked 100% on the old computer before the repair.

Is my only option a fresh install on the new machine?

Repair Reinstallation of Windows XP (using XP CD)

Note carefully post #3.

Being that you still have the old machine running, put the new drive in it and boot with it - and uninstall ALL drivers in addition to the IDE controller change. If this doesn't work, then do the repair install.

ALSO note that from a legal standpoint, you may not have the same copy of XP running on 2 computers simultaneously.
