greedo 1772 Error (causes?)

In trying to install a new software program, HTC Sync, it keeps failing due to a 1772 error.
I have done some looking around both on the MS forums as well as the HTC forums without much success. I have done everything and verified everything that they have recommended would work. The only one I have not done is wipe my machine clean and re-install XP.

So, I thought I would post it on this forum to see if there is anyone here that may know something about this type of error.

Thank you.

Listing all the things you've tried would help avoid duplicate suggestions
