Fragmented Files

I conducted and disk cleanup on my third HD (an EIDE) followed by a defrag. The end result of the defrag showed a large swat of red (fragmened files). It showed before the defrag and has not changed after. Any dieas why?

They are most likely active system files that require a boot defrag to fix.

What size is the third drive and How Much Free space does it have?

Is system restore turned on for the drive?
Do you store huge 2gig or larger files on the drive?

I wouldn't worry about the situation..But if you want to go to all the trouble....Move 20 gigs or so of files OFF the drive - defrag it - move the files back and defrag again.

Did what you suggested. It was a backup file that was fragmented. I relocated it to a storage drive and ended up with no fragmented file in my EIDE ahrd drive. Thanks
