Can't Install Adobe Reader!
Recently reformatted hard drive because of other problems. Windows XP operating system. Trying to download Adobe Reader. Won't let me do it. I get an error massage saying that there's a problem with Adobe's website. Other Adobe products downloaded just fine(Flash, Shockwave, etc etc) But why not Reader??? Makes no sense to me! What could be the problem? By the way, i've tried it with Norton enabled and disabled with no difference.
What next? |

I just went to the Adobe site and when I clicked to download Adobe Reader the Firefox infobar (top of window) popped up asking if I wanted to allow it. Your browser may be doing something similar. Other than that, I don't know.
I do have an alternative suggestion, however. Foxit Reader is, in my opinion, far superior to Adobe reader. It is much faster and not bloated at around a 5 MB download. I actually use the 2.xx version because I prefer it to the 3.xx version.

Same here. I've used Foxit 2.xx for awhile now and it's worked perfectly and loads alot faster than Adobe's reader. When I *was* still using Adobe, anything of their's, reader, Flash, Shockwave, whatever; I always had to disable all of my popup blockers, ActiveX blockers, etc in my browser because otherwise it wouldn't install.

If I have to install adobe software of any sort, I usually grab the download from filehippo.com, rather than messing with adobe's update managers, which don't work very often.

Or go to CNET.com for downloads. Usually works there as well.

I've also used Foxit for several years now but I just recently switched to Sumatra. It's even faster then Foxit and has a smaller footprint. Very nice PDF reader.
