Ie 8 ?

I just downloaded and installed IE 8 and found that I no longer stay logged to web sites even when I check the "stay logged in" box. I have to log in every time I visit.

What do I need to do?

There are many alternatives to using IE and many here will also suggest staying away from it. Have you tried Mozilla's Firefox? There is also Opera, Safari and Google's Chrome.

Not only are those other browsers more stable, but they are also more secure.

Then my question to you is, why are you still wanting to use IE? Are there certain sites that you need it for? If you are using Firefox as your default browser now, then there shouldn't be a need for IE to keep you logged in to a site.

I am not using IE8, I believe I said
"I am using Mozilla as the default browser but have IE8 on the computer."

Have you deleted Internet Explorer from your PC?

I am using Firefox and cannot stay logged in to sites requiring a p/w.

You were very unclear in your original post. We ALL read it as being an issue with IE8. You also were not clear enough in your replies up till this most recent one. You should have stated from square 1 that this was a Firefox issue.

To me, the solution may be very simple - uninstall IE8 and see if that fixes it. It will revert back to the version of IE that you had before, you cannot uninstall IE completely or Windows will no longer work.

Do you have Firefox set to clear your cookies whenever you close the browser at the end of your session?

Look in: Tools --> Options --> Privacy --> Check your history settings

Thank you kindly. I had changed my history settings to clear out browsing records and somehow left it with the wrong settings.
I cleaned that up and all is well.

Thanks again.
