Greetings and thanks in advance for all who help!
Suddenly when I double click on a .Mp3 file I get: Filename.Mp3 access is denied. This was preceeded by a menu opening asking which program I wanted to use to open the file. When I choose Media player after getting the "Open With" Dialog box and then checked: "Always use the selected program to open this file", It ignored that and I hade to repeat the same proceedure every time. Formally, It was just a matter of doulble clicking the file. Thank You, Jack |

Are there only certain files this happens with, or all MP3 files?

Thanks Force,
The "Always use the selected program to open this file", Appears with any video file except the "Real Player" ones. All .Mp3 & .Wma files produce the aforementioned Error Message: "access is denied". Jack |

which operating system are you using?
I know there were some early issues with xp which required a client to take ownership of that folder as per ms outline. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421/en-us |

I am assuming there is a personal reason why you are still running SP2 and not SP3.

I can't help but think this issue is related to your media player issue you were talking about a few weeks ago.
You have to start XP Home in safe mode AND LOG IN AS ADMINISTRATOR to get the security tab. If you are using this as a BUSINESS COMPUTER and it's connected to the Internet, you should ALWAYS keep the core OS up to date. Without SP3, you are YEARS out of date. The advice I gave you in that thread still applies, but you have made it very plain that it's not an option. |

Thanks again GLC!
But when I attempt to go into "Safe Mode", I just get continuous lines of what appear to be results of some sort that follow the command prompt. Jack |

If it won't complete a safe mode boot, that just adds more to my analysis that you are overdue for a reinstall.
