Unhappy xp pro won't install... help

Hello, I need help. I cannot install windows xp pro 2. the install quits at 50%.
I have a new hard drive. Ran the Seagate drive test and zeroed out the drive. I have tried xp home, xp pro, windows 7 home premium, and ubuntu 9.10. I have removed the cmos battery.

I am lost. Below is all the information I could come up with.

Ubuntu error…power now-k8: bios error – no psb or acpi_pss objects

Crc error

Kernel panic- not stncing: vfs unable to mount root fs on unknown- block,(104,1)

Acpi: aborted because in compressed archive

Can somebody help me? I have read all posts for the past year.

Run ram diagnostics. Your DVD drive may be defective.

Thank you. Thought I did everything but left out one thing. I forgot to check the memory. It was bad.

put old memory back in and took the cmos battery out. now everything is fine. The Hard part was finding the memtest in dos iso form for cd. Here is the link.
