Can'tStart XP

Hey guys,

Need some help/ideas. My XP system wouldn't boot in any mode so I used the system recovery console to delete and rebuild the boot.ini file. I'm now getting the message below when I try to boot:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

I thought maybe I could just repair the XP install but ever since I rebuilt tho boot.ini file, I don't have the option of repairing XP, only re-installing it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, hris

Have you tried a repair reinstall? Procedure is in the Tips and Tricks forum.

That's part of the problem. Once I rebuilt to Boot.ini file the XP disc no longer gives me the choice to do a repair install. I'ts like it can't figure out that a previous install was done.
