PC Project

I currently have a gateway 7310x, Pentium 4 3.8 GHz, 2.5 Gb RAM, 9800 gtx, 500w psu with 32 bit xp. I acquired a Dell dimension e521 64 bit 2.0 dual core, bought/installed 4 Gb RAM, and 300w psu w/ no OS or video.

I am going to use the dell mobo, ram, processor, cd drive, my old cd drive, 500W psu, 9800 gtx, the new hard drive for 64 bit win7, and the old drive for the same 32 bit xp and documents that are already on there.

Here is how far I am:

Installed win7 64 bit on the new comp and it works fine.

Removed new hard drive from new comp and inserted old hard drive in new comp to see if xp would work.

I was going to try to repair the existing xp in hopes of loading the right drivers, but the repair option never showed up.

I then installed 32 bit xp on the existing empty 10 gig partition and it booted up.

It works fine, but now everything goes on the 10 gig partition and all of the my programs are not on the start menu (I can open them thru the program files, but all of the settings are gone).

Is it possible to move the now working xp to the main partition and replace the old one?

Now that I have it booting up, can I just install the right drivers on the big one, and then delete the new one?

Is it possible to install xp on the big partition, and then just delete the xp that was already on there? Or can I not install 2 xp's on one partition?

The whole goal here is to not format my old hard drive.

Any input=good.

Thanks!
