xp problem, possible system wipe

so i have a virus, and my scanners will not pick it up. and since i do not really have anything on my computer. i was thinking of just wiping everything and starting over. how would i do that?

i have those mini hp laptops with no disk drive. so is there a way to wipe my computer without having to use a operating system disk?

What steps have you taken to determine that you have a virus?

What is the name of the virus?
When you google the name of the virus do you find and info for manual removal?

There will be a way to do a full system recovery. Your manual should address that. There's a recovery partition on the hard drive.

Try Malwarebytes. Start the computer in safe mode with networking, download it, install it, update it, and run a full scan.

What do you see when you press F8? You need to do it right at the end of POST just before the XP loading screen comes up.

You should have several options - normal, safe mode, safe mode with networking, vga mode, last known good configuration, disable restart on error..........

Sometimes at this point you need to tap F8 again and it will give you the options glc mentioned above. Try that and see if it will get you into the option for Safe Mode. It is a weird circumstance when that happens because normally you do not have to do that unless you have a dual-boot or multi-boot system.
