can't open regedit, firefox, setups

Help! I have apparently messed up my registry after trying to get rid of XP Spyware 2010, following directions for manual removal. Now I can't open Firefox, IE, regedit or any setup installations. Looks like I got rid of the virus though, along with my Norton antivirus I just noticed! How do I fix this?

Thanks, Mark

I fixed it using the advise from this link

I needed to change the default for the .exe file from secfile to exefile. Worked perfect.
