A Few Weird Problems
My computer recently acquired a few weird problems. To start off, the operating system is XP, if you need any other information, just let me know.
Now when I use firefox, every once in a while I'll get a pop-up in the form of a new tab. I don't have to click on anything, it just shows up. It's not the same website every time either, for instance just now I got a pop-up for manufacturersdirectory.com. I've never had any problems with pop-ups before a few days ago. Secondly, after I run my computer for a while (usually after it having been on for a at least a few hours) this start to change for no reason. On my computer the task bar is blue and every once in a while it'll change to the old square, gray look, like the old Windows operating systems used to have. My windows also may change from time to time to a more square older look. The third problem has to do with my sound card. I use Ventrilo every day to talk to my friends when we play games online. If I start my computer up and run Ventrilo everything is fine, I can hear everything perfectly. However, if I use Ventrilo later on in the day I've been getting a message saying my sound card could not be found. If I restart my computer it works perfectly fine again. I don't know what the deal is with all this stuff, it all started this week though. I ran Spybot, which found no spyware. I ran Trend Micro to check for viruses and found nothing and I ran Comodo to fix any registry errors but the problem still persists. Thank you for your time and help! |

Yes, sounds like you have a few nasty's in your system, run MalwareBytes followed by SuperAntiSpyware. Post your results and we can help if you need further assistance.

After running Malwarebytes I found the following files that are now quarantined: Rogue.Ascentive (multiple times) , Rootkit.TDSS, Rogue.Multiple, Trojan.Agent, and Rogue.DeusCleaner.
Some of the Rogue.Ascentives are registry keys and one of them is a registry value. Should I delete any of these findings, or should they all be left in the quarantine folder? I ran Super Anti Spyware and found about 175 errors, which I deleted. My computer seems to be running a lot better so far, however I'll still get the occasional pop-up in a new tab. Thanks for the help! |

You can empty the quarantine folder.
