OS Won't Install
Installing XP home, SP2 on a refurbished hard drive, all went well for loading files, process finished and went into automatic reboot. After the reboot I got the message ""Press Any Key To Boot From CD". nothing happened after repeated key pressing. I went into BIOS, tried different boot sequences to no avail. The BIOS is recognizing the hard drive & DVD rom. I repeated the installation, same thing.
The unit is a HP Pavilion zv5000 laptop. In the BIOS, only one boot device can be selected. The hard drive has been tested on the "Fast" & "Complete" programs, both results OK. Also, when the above mentioned message comes up I have waited for several hours seeing if the process would continue, nothing. Any suggestions ? |

DO NOT PRESS ANY Key when prompted during the installation. It knows XP is being installed and should continue without your help. Usuually if you press any key it will start a new install....
You might need to start the process over - zap the partition etc.... And FYI - odds are you need to look in the BIOS to enable Legacy USB devices.... |

I always change tthe boot order to the hdd first, immediately after the initial setup. The first time xp says it's going to restart your system go into bios and set the disk drive after the hdd. You'll never get that message again.

Hehe, yea after the initial 'Blue Background' initial install, you shouldn't be pressing a key to "Boot from CD", just let it run.
