NT Authority System

Just purchased Win XP Pro from a seemingly reputable internet software company. Turns out to be an OEM disc for sale with original computer. I wanted to replace the old Win 2000 Pro OS on my home machine. The pc does not have active internet or networking connections on it as it is used for writing and photo work. Nevertheless, I copied all files that I wanted to save to tape then formatted the drive. When loading XP the first time I received numerous messages that certain files could not be copied. I had a option to cancel the install or to skip the file, which I did. Most of the skipped files were .jpg, gifs, but a few were .dll files. Nevertheless, the install completed but the I received NT Authority System messages on reboot that gave me 60 seconds to save and exit. I've read that this could be a virus (but on a formatted drive??). Any ideas?

Did that but no change. I had no trouble loading an old Win98 disk. Will try Win 2000 tonight and see if it loads. Any other thoughts?

Yep, as usual glc hits the nail on the head. The first disk that I received from the supplier I couldn't read all of the product code so they sent me another. The new one was the one that would not read. I had never tried the original disk because of the code problem. Remembered that I had it and it installed without any problems last night! Thanks all for input.
