Desktop Background Picture

I am trying to put a family picture on my desktop background. When I set up as "centered" it clips off the edges. losing most of the picture. If I use "stretch", it looks terrible. When I use "tiled" it only shows a small part of the picture on the desktop.

How can I set the background picture so I can see all of it on my desktop?

Using Windows XP, SP 2.

Thanks.

What screen resolution are you using, and what are the pixel dimensions of the picture?

Do you have photoshop? Or any other basic picture editing program (Not paint). That would make it easier to find out.

I do not have. But I am wondering what difference it makes? Shouldn't Windows take any picture and center it?

Right click on the file, choose Properties, and look on the Summary tab.
