Constant Log In
After leaving my PC untouched for a while it goes into a stand down mode which is OK but I have to log in everytiime. What can I do to prevent this?

I'm assuming XP.
Control panel, power options, advanced. Uncheck the box for prompt for password from standby. |

I got WinXP Home Edition.
GLC: I already done what you described and found the box already unchecked. |

Set your power options so it doesn't go into standby.

It's not set on any of the times listed. It's set on NEVER. Here's what's happening. When unused the computer goes to the Screensaver and after a few minutes this notice window appears:
UNLOCK COMPUTER This computer is in use and has been locked. Only the owner or administrator can unlock this computer. My User Name appears but I have to type in the password followed by OK. Oddly enough, I have not gone near the Power Options nor the Account Manager in the Control Panel. Looking back at it, this phenomenon appeared only after I did some upgrade with the computer, namely upgrading the BIOS (done by a service pro) and I upgraded the CPU also. |

Display properties, screensaver tab - uncheck On resume, password protect.

Another different problem. Now my screen continues to show pictures in my screensaver. It used to do that but after a few minutes the screen will turn black and stay that way until resuming use of the PC. BTW the "Standby" in the Power management is set at Never. Any further adjustments I can make?

Set the monitor to turn off after the desired period of time.
