Is it safe to remove Outlook Express?
Sometimes I can't connect to my e-mail client. I'm using Outlook Express. I spoke with the guy at my ISP place and he suggested trying Thunderbird and he went on to say that he too has had some problems with Outook Express.
I was monkeying around with nLite with the idea of creating a custom XP installation disc in which Outlook Express would be removed. But when I checked Outlook Express I saw a Caution in the right hand pane saying that possible character corruption with Windows Live Messenger could occur if I removed it. I don't chat regularly although on occasion I have chatted with tech support people. Whatcha think? Is it safe to remove Outlook Express or should I just not monkey with it? |

I'm getting errors and can't open up my e-mail on occasion. I've learned there are registry hacks and the Windows Add/Remove components options but it appears that you can't completely remove it.
Unless nLite can. It's not a major issue by any means. I can live with the occasional failure to connect but Thunderbird may be better according to my sources. |

Leave it alone and just make Thunderbird your default email client. No need to hack OE out, just don't use it.
